California Day Dreaming And Nighmare-ing

You know there is no place on the planet I love more than Los Angeles. Actually, I am a late bloomer, as I based my love for America on the Eastern coast. New York seemed to be the center of my universe, I felt at home in every New England state and fell for summering in Long Island from a very early age.

But then we spent three months in Hollywood. We lived in a beautiful little house in the hills off Laurel Canyon, with a great view and different winding roads down to Sunset Boulevard, and I started to read every book I could get my hands on about that area. Most of them talked about a certain moment in time when music and art met acting and directing - it was my very private "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood".

Now there is another one to fuel my desire - "Everybody Thought We Are Crazy" by Mark Rozzo. It is about the very special relationship between Brooke Hayward and Dennis Hopper - and it is also about that very moment in Los Angeles.

The book is so excitingly entertaining I could not stop reading until I reached those more than 120 pages of acknowledgments and notes (almost a quarter of the book) in the end. Also fascinating to read how many people you have to thank these days after you have finished your work.

The besst thing to do is to just read my good friend´s Corey Seymor interview in VOGUE to find out all you need to know about the book and its author. No, wait: The interview is so perfectly conducted that you might skip the idea of actually reading the book.

But, what the what..
