Moby And His Dick

I had listened to the audio version of Ken Auletta´s latest "New Yorker" article on "audm" - and even though I thought I had been fed up with the story of Harvey Weinstein a long time ago - I thought about giving his new book about the disgusting film mogul another chance.

Because they say Auletta never describes the black and whites but rather the grey zones and sometimes even behind pink coloured glasses - to do a person justice. And that this book would be "his Moby Dick".

And because I think discovering Quentin Tarantino and producing all time favorites of mine like "Cider House Rules" or "Silver Lining" made him a remarkable movie producer who actually brought art house into the mass market world of big money - I felt it was maybe time to rethink the darkest persona in Hollywood.

Besides - so many famous actresses and media people and politicians seemed to get along with him for so long! The daughters of Barack Obama and Anna Wintour worked as interns in his company! And the Clintons took every chance to meet him for more democratic support money!

But then - I decided to not buy a copy of that book.
Beause: Why would I like to have any excuse or explanation for him? Understand him better even?

I do not and never will understand this man and what he did. I hope he will stay in prison for the rest of his life. And I can only hope that his fate helps people to act faster in the future. To stop this behavior from the start and maybe help another Weinstein to realize he is not getting away with it - and therefore stop it.

And try to focus on just producing good movies.
