One Man Show

To watch one guy act against just a bunch of voices is kind of magical.

Following Jake Gyllenhall as a burnt out cop, relegated form his patrol work in the streets of Los Angeles after he shot a young man and, finally, becoming a highly if not hysterically motivated member of the police is so intense you don´t need no more to get on top of your seat by suspense.

A remake from Sundance winner "The Guilty", a Danish movie produced and played by Gustav Moeller in 2018, the narrative was only slightly changed by script writer Nic ("True Detective") Pizzolatto, especially the end is different, you might decide for yourself which one you prefer.

"Training Day" director Antoine Fuquai went for his good cop/bad cop-mission. And I have to say, I like that.

But most of all I love Jake Gyllenhaal for his performance.

We have seen one of the first serious Oscar contestants - that is for sure.
