Nightmare City Limits

Thanks to Zurich Filmfest last week I finally watched HBO´s documentary on Tina Turner.

Since this is not the first documentary on the singer´s disturbing biography you know the facts. I did, because when Tina separated from Ike Turner and became a solo artist in the early eighties she talked about them to "People" magazine and the whole world read it.

The thing is: Only now her story gave me nightmares. Because within this documentary you do not only hear original voiceovers from those early interviews. You also learn about her whole life trauma of always being reminded of her past - by books, movies, new interviews.

And thanks to our newly achieved sensibility you will no longer accept how her abusive husband got away with it all - earning grammies, lifetime achievement awards and the respect of his community.

I have to say: I am glad to live in our days. Rather send some "innocent" guys to hell than stand any more of those a...holes, leaving them alone with their violence against women - as long as those women are their girlfriends or wives.
